The 20th Queensland Karate Titles
The 20th Queensland Karate Titles, the first under the new rebranding, as TSKF Qld, were held at the Cornubia Sports Centre, Shailer Park during the week 22nd - 25th July.
The event was well attended with 84 members attending the 3-day training seminar conducted by Takahashi Shihan, 8th Dan, Chief Instructor, TSKF from Japan.
TSKFQ was also very pleased to have visiting Dojo Heads Pasco Costantino (TSKF Geraldton WA), Ian Watson (TSKF Port Pirie SA), Paul Brown (TSKF Evanston Park SA),
Ian Harris (TSKF Lismore), Tim Potter (TSKF Lennox Head) and Mark Ellis (TSKF Coolah, TSKF Dunedoo and TSKF Narrabri) in attendance to show their loyalty and support
to Shihan and take advantage of an excellent training seminar. For the training, it was a true revisitation of the 'back to basics' techniques as favoured by Master
Funakoshi in the traditional way.
On Wednesday evening, Dojo Heads celebrated their strength and commitment to TSKF and Takahashi Shihan at the traditional Dojo Head Dinner with their partners and senior members.
This was a terrific evening of friendship and camaraderie.
Saturday saw the competition commence early with very spirited displays of kata and kumite from all ranks and age groups. Team kata events were hotly contested with
Logan Village the victors for the Beginners event and Lismore for the Dojo Team event. After the Official Opening, final events for black belts were hotly contested,
culminating with Ben Skennar and Steph Russo taking out both kata and kumite in the Open mens and womens events respectively. TSKF Lismore Dojo took out the President's
Cup for the Dojo with the highest points tally for 1sts, 2nds, & 3rds with TSKF Logan Village and TSKF Childers Dojos following closely. Full results are available by

Trophy's were presented by the Officials of the day, and special awards were presented by Takahashi Shihan and Mrs Angela Burns, wife of our late Honorary President,
Mr Tom Burns AO. New TSKF Qld President, Stacey Kirmos, said in his closing remarks that he was very pleased with the attendance at this event, the high standard and
strong spirit displayed by all competitors and especially thanked all Dojo Heads, members and visitors for supporting the event. He also extended special thanks to
all who assisted in any way to make the Titles run so successfully. The 2010 Queensland Titles will be held in Childers in July next year, the date to be advised.
